We photographed Rick Pringles’ solo exhibition at Deus Ex Machina Temple of Enthusiasm in Canggu. Here’s a look back at the show.

The Exhibition
“Deus Ex Machina” was a solo show by Rick Pringles, presented by Deus Gallery. Pringles is known for a recurring character — a mustachioed rider, usually mid-wheelie on a surfboard-strapped motorbike — rendered in loose, bright, graffiti-influenced brushwork. This show brought that world into the gallery at full scale.

Opening Night
The exhibition opened with a free-flow bar from Bintang Crystal, Albens Ciders, and Hatten Wines, and ran for several weeks at the Temple of Enthusiasm on Jl. Batu Mejan.

The Photoshoot
Rucira was brought in to document the show — the work on the walls, the opening night crowd, and the details in between. Here’s a selection from that shoot.
